Sudipto Dey, born in a middleclass Bengali family, grown up listening to mythological and historical stories, Rabindra sangeet and various discussion and analysis done on the novels (both English and Bengali) by my parents. As a part of a large family where many were into dramatics, some are national award winners, discussion on literature and plots were a common feature of my entire family. It directly or indirectly helped me to boost my dreams and imagination to build. As I am the only child of my parents, there were no one of my age to distract me from dreaming. But from childhood I wanted to express myself, but being an introvert child did not have any clue to how to do so.

Since childhood my father was my guru. He got his formal learning on art from Delhi college and he use to quote what once the famous artist Picasso hads said, "every child is an artist", let him express himself and do not bind them with grammars. It is the base on which I started expressing myself on papers. It has helped me to express myself without any boundary and it remained throughout my life as an expressionist.

I am mostly a self-learned painter and observation is my greatest strength. I have expressed my painting through landscapes, still life and portraits. Painting the nature's creation in its real and actual form is my liking and that is why I have liked the beauty of natural light and shadows.

On my professional side, I am an economics graduate, with my senior management done from IIM Ahmedabad, spend around 29 years in sales management at various level, in software industry. However, art remains my first choice throughout.

Presently, in an environment, where the way of living is completely changing, I believe art remains one of the few factors which can definitely reduce the stress in life.
